Let me just talk about THIS WHOLE Manuel Antonio Beach surprise engagement session right here…😭 The story behind how this all came together is why I adore photography so much.
Let me set the scene…
It’s a couple of weeks ago and David reaches out to me on Instagram. He tells me his plan for surprising his beautiful girlfriend Brionna with THE BIGGEST and most exciting question of all time—to marry him.💍
My initial reaction
Now, when I get these kinds of messages I get embarrassingly excited (i.e. jumping with joy, getting the biggest + stupidest smile across my face, already planning and already brainstorming ideas for poses & locations in my head at lightning speed)
So, I think this goes without saying, but I answered with a big fat freaking hell yes (similarly to the answer Brionna gave David when he popped the big question😉)
Getting Set-Up
So the big day comes. I head to Manuel Antonio Beach about an hour before the planned “this-time-is-roughly-the-time-that-I’m-going-to-plan-to-drop-to-my-knee”…time.
I set up my little beach towel, cleaned my lenses, set my camera settings, took a few test shots to ensure all was working well—and then…I waited.
David had sent over a selfie of both him + Brionna right before they headed out to the beach so I knew exactly what they would both be wearing so that I could spot them easier JUST IN CASE there was confusion with the planned meet-up/Google Maps pinned location spot (you’re a life saver for that, David 😂).
THE Proposal!!!🎉
Now, for the most exciting part…where I spot them walking along the beach hand-in-hand…my heart starts racing…I feel like a weird undercover freak trying to linger far enough away so that Brionna doesn’t notice anything weird happening, but at the same time close enough to be able to catch the exact moment that David proposes.
I need to be prepared to get the shot composed, sharp, on time, in focus—and then fire away…in a matter of about 5 seconds.😅
After a few minutes of weirdly stalking them, it finally happened…
He dropped to his knee, I turned to start shooting, and she. said. YES!!!🎉💍
We love ourselves some supportive bystanders applauding in the background.😂♥
The Session
Now it’s time for the (close runner-up) of the most exciting part of the evening—the engagement session itself!
We had fun frolicking along the beach, soaking up the moments of love, and enjoying the sunset fall behind us during it all.🌇
